1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide a better user experience, and supply information to site operators.
Cookies can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
2. Cookies We Use
Elementary Digital uses two categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies — essential for authentication and the operation of our client portal. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics and performance cookies — used to understand how visitors interact with our website so we can improve our services. These are only set with your explicit consent.
Authentication and Session Cookies
These cookies are required to authenticate users and maintain secure sessions on our client portal. They are set when you sign in and are essential for the portal to function correctly. Without these cookies, you would not be able to access authenticated areas of our services.
Our authentication system is powered by Supabase (via the Route Royal SDK), which uses cookies to manage secure sessions.
Analytics Cookies
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised data about how visitors use our website. This helps us understand which pages are most visited, how users navigate the site, and where we can improve the experience.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2, which means analytics cookies are only set after you provide consent via our cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics data is collected and no analytics cookies are placed on your device.
3. Cookie Table
The following table details the cookies used on our website and client portal:
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|
sb-*-auth-token | Supabase authentication session token. Maintains your signed-in state across page loads. | Strictly necessary | Session / up to 7 days |
sb-*-auth-token-code-verifier | PKCE code verifier for secure OAuth authentication flows (e.g. Google sign-in). | Strictly necessary | Session |
ed_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preference (granted or denied). | Strictly necessary | Persistent (localStorage) |
_ga / _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes unique visitors and tracks page views. Only set with your consent. | Analytics (consent required) | Up to 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes visitors within a 24-hour period. Only set with your consent. | Analytics (consent required) | 24 hours |
_gcl_au | Google Ads — stores conversion attribution data. Only set with your consent when you arrive via a Google Ads campaign. | Advertising (consent required) | 90 days |
The * in cookie names represents a project or measurement identifier, which varies by environment.
4. Third-Party Cookies
When you use Google OAuth to sign in, Google may set its own cookies during the authentication process. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy and are outside our control.
If you consent to analytics cookies, Google Analytics and Google Ads may set cookies as described in the table above. These services are provided by Google LLC and are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We have a data processing agreement with Google and use IP anonymisation where available.
We do not embed social media widgets or other third-party advertising technologies beyond those listed above.
5. Your Cookie Choices
When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored locally and remembered for future visits.
We use Google Consent Mode v2 to ensure that analytics and advertising cookies are only activated after you grant consent. If you decline:
- No analytics or advertising cookies will be set
- No browsing data will be sent to Google Analytics or Google Ads
- Only strictly necessary cookies (authentication) will remain
You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.
6. Managing Cookies
Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in to the client portal. Analytics cookies can be declined via our consent banner without affecting site functionality.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored on your device
- Delete individual or all cookies
- Block cookies from specific or all websites
- Set preferences for first-party and third-party cookies

7. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce new types of cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date.
